Crucial witnesses have come forward at the Bungoma police station in Bungoma County, responding to the mysterious death of a second-year student from Egerton University.
The family of the deceased, 23-year-old Francis Pepela, reveals that he was in Kanduyi watching an African Cup of Nations (AFCON) match at night before the tragic incident.
Lazarus Pepela, the father of the deceased, recounts that upon receiving the news of his son’s demise, he was informed that Francis had been struck by a trailer, resulting in head injuries. However, he expresses skepticism about the official report.
“Some of his friends suggest there was a scuffle at the location leading to the head injuries. The details of the altercation remain unclear,” he stated.
“We anticipate that the information provided by the witnesses will assist us in determining the cause of his death.”
Francis was enrolled in the journalism program at the institution.
Local residents are lamenting the escalating security concerns in the area, urging prompt action from the authorities.
Concurrently, an investigation has been initiated to unravel the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
