The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set Thursday, November 27, 2025, as the date for multiple by-elections for Senate, National Assembly, and County Assembly seats across Kenya.

In a Kenya Gazette notice, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon said the polls will fill vacancies declared by various Speakers in accordance with the Constitution and Elections Act. He reminded all candidates and parties to strictly observe the electoral code of conduct.
First Batch — Gazetted on August 8, includes 16 ward seats: Angata Nanyokie (Samburu), Chemundu/Kapng’etuny (Nandi), Chewani (Tana River), Fafi (Garissa), Kariobangi North (Nairobi), Kisa East (Kakamega), Metkei (Elgeyo Marakwet), Mumbuni North (Machakos), Narok Town (Narok), Purko (Kajiado), Tembelio (Uasin Gishu), Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya, Ekerenyo (Nyamira), Lake Zone and Nanaam (Turkana).
Second Batch — To be gazetted on August 11, will include the Baringo Senate seat, six National Assembly constituencies (Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja), and Kabuchai/Chwele Ward (Bungoma).
Political parties have until September 17, 2025, to submit names of authorised officials and primary details. Public officers seeking to contest must resign within seven days of the notice.
Candidate nominations will be on October 8 and 9, with campaigns running until November 24. The 2022 certified voter register will be used.
IEBC has also appointed members to its Dispute Resolution and Electoral Code of Conduct committees to handle nomination disputes and monitor compliance.
If contested, voting will take place on November 27 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the affected areas.
“Our commitment is to deliver free, fair, and transparent by-elections,” said Ethekon, urging stakeholders to uphold peace and the rule of law.
