Eric Omondi Fundraises for ‘Wrong’ Bridge in Kisii Before Correction

Comedian Eric Omondi faced backlash from his followers on Tuesday after he rallied them to contribute funds for the construction of a ‘wrong’ bridge in Kisii. The incident unfolded when a distressing video circulated, depicting a young schoolgirl navigating a dilapidated, lengthy bridge over a turbulent river, constructed from aged timber, appearing narrow and frail.

Motivated by philanthropy, Eric Omondi visited Kisii to locate the schoolgirl and the bridge, intending to construct a safer one. However, when he shared a video on social media, crossing what was believed to be the bridge in question with a man claiming to be the girl’s father, followers quickly pointed out the error. Eric had already provided the man’s contact and urged followers to contribute money for the bridge.

Upon realizing the mistake, the comedian sought out the correct bridge and, on Wednesday morning, shared another video confirming it as the right one. Despite the confusion, Eric committed to building both bridges due to safety concerns for the residents. In the corrected video, he was seen embracing the schoolgirl, encouraging his followers to contribute for her benefit.

Apart from the incident, Kenyans criticized the local leadership in the area for their perceived inaction in constructing better bridges. Both bridges span the vast River Gucha in Kisii County.
