Raila Odinga’s family earlier dismissed rumours about his health, assuring Kenyans that he was in good spirits and recovering well. His elder brother, Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, confirmed that the ODM leader was recuperating in India after a brief illness.
Speaking to the media, Oburu described reports suggesting that Raila was in critical condition as exaggerated and inaccurate, emphasizing that his situation was not as serious as portrayed.
“Raila is up and about,” he said. “Like anyone else, he felt unwell for a short while but is now resting and recovering.” He further clarified that the former Prime Minister’s condition had been misrepresented by some media outlets, adding that the public would soon see him back in good health.
Oburu confirmed that Raila remained in India for continued rest and treatment. His remarks were echoed by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and media mogul SK Macharia, both of whom said they had personally spoken to Raila.
“The Prime Minister is safe and healthy,” Kindiki affirmed, condemning those spreading falsehoods about his health. Macharia also noted that he had spoken with Raila recently and assured Kenyans that he was doing well and expected to return home soon.
