Eating cabbage three times a day helps reduce obesity among men, scientists have found.
In a study published in the BMJ Open journal, cabbage, when pickled with salt and other ingredients such as onions, helps in reducing obesity.
The basis of the study is that cabbage contains minerals such as fiber, acids, and vitamins that help reduce excess fat in the male body.
Obesity is one of the diseases that cause death. In 2014, the Kenyan government released statistics showing that obesity causes 39% of deaths annually.
Obesity results from eating foods that increase energy and fat in the body. These foods include ugali, rice, those high in protein, salty minerals, and fats.
The study recorded in the BMJ Open journal involved people who ate cabbage once a day and those who ate it three times a day.
It was found that those who ate pickled cabbage three times reduced obesity, while those who ate cabbage once reduced it to a lesser extent.
On the other hand, those who were obese and did not eat cabbage continued to suffer from high weight. Therefore, the study clearly showed that eating cabbage in one way or another helps reduce obesity, which remains one of the terrifying health problems worldwide.
However, there is concern that the presence of too much salt in cabbage is dangerous to health. But the presence of potassium minerals in pickled cabbage is extremely beneficial.
