Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to detain him, hours after the agency dismissed his claims about a Sh500 million exhibit linked to an ongoing fuel procurement investigation.
Responding to the DCI’s statement, Gachagua said he would not be cowed, maintaining that his remarks were truthful and that he is ready to face any legal consequences if found culpable.

He stated that while speaking in Gakoe, he addressed issues surrounding the dispute and alleged theft of the Sh500 million exhibit. He accused the DCI of attempting to intimidate him through public statements, daring the agency to proceed with his arrest.
Gachagua also faulted investigators for allegedly targeting him instead of pursuing individuals he claims attacked him and his supporters at public gatherings, including an incident in Limuru during a funeral.
He further alleged that his supporters had been assaulted in areas such as Mwiki, Kariobangi, and Witima, and insisted those responsible should be apprehended before any action is taken against him.
Maintaining that he has a constitutional right to speak out, Gachagua said he would not be silenced while defending Kenyans.
His response follows a DCI statement dismissing allegations he made during an Easter Sunday service at AIPCA Gakoe Church in Gatundu North, Kiambu County.
The agency termed his claims on recovered exhibits in the fuel procurement probe as baseless, misleading, and intended to erode public trust in law enforcement.

According to the DCI, all evidence related to the case is being handled professionally and in line with the law. It added that it is reviewing Gachagua’s full remarks, including those made in Gikuyu, to determine whether they breach laws on cohesion, hate speech, or incitement.
The agency warned it would take appropriate legal action against anyone found to have violated the law, regardless of their status.
Despite this, Gachagua insisted he will continue speaking on the matter, hinting that he has more revelations to make.
The standoff highlights escalating tensions between the former deputy president and state agencies, with the fuel probe becoming a key point of contention.
