Joyce Wairimu, through her lawyer, submitted a petition dated December 9, 2025, claiming the family is burdened by unanswered questions regarding the sudden death of the singer, best known for her hit song “11th Hour.”

Family Cites Unexplained Death and Lack of Records

The petition, which marks the family’s first formal legal action, asserts that Bayo had no known prior illness at the time of her passing, making her death “mysterious” and unexplained.

The family claims their suspicions have deepened due to several factors:

  • No Autopsy Report: They were allegedly not provided with the official post-mortem results or any medical documents related to the illness for which Bayo was reportedly treated shortly before she died.

  • Expedited Burial: The family expressed dissatisfaction with the unusually quick pace of the burial arrangements, arguing that the speed, combined with the lack of post-mortem findings, suggested that crucial details may have been overlooked or withheld.

Bayo reportedly passed away while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital on Monday, November 10, 2025. Initial reports had indicated she succumbed to leukemia, a diagnosis the family now seeks to clarify through an official inquiry.

The mother is asking the DPP to direct the Inspector General of Police to fast-track the matter and institute an open inquest to establish the full cause of death.
