Former Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala led a delegation to Bondo on Thursday to console Ida Odinga following the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Accompanied by elders and local leaders, Balala presented a camel to the Odinga family — a traditional symbol of respect and solidarity in pastoralist communities. The visit is part of ongoing condolence missions by political, diplomatic, and community figures paying tribute to the late opposition leader.

During the visit, Balala praised Raila as a historic figure whose career was marked by sacrifice, justice advocacy, and dedication to marginalized communities.
“Raila dedicated his life to giving a voice to the vulnerable and the marginalized,” Balala said. “Under his leadership, the ODM party transformed Kenya’s political landscape into a strong, inclusive movement that shaped the nation.”
He urged Kenyans to uphold Raila’s vision of a country where every citizen is respected and empowered.
“As we honour his remarkable life, let us continue his legacy by building a Kenya where all voices are heard. May his example inspire future generations to serve with courage, compassion, and dedication to the common good,” Balala added.
