After 22 years of waiting, Arsenal have finally officially returned to the top of English football after winning the English Premier League (EPL) championship in the 2025/26 season.
The championship was confirmed on Tuesday night following Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, a result that left City with 78 points, which they can no longer catch Arsenal, who have 82 points at the top of the standings.
On Monday, Arsenal put themselves in a good position to win the title after beating Burnley 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium, a victory that moved them closer to the championship they had been chasing for more than two decades.
The success ends three consecutive years in which Arsenal finished second behind Manchester City, with coach Mikel Arteta successfully returning the club to its era of great success.
Arsenal will now be officially presented with their trophy in the final game of the season against Crystal Palace, while Manchester City conclude their schedule with a game against Aston Villa.
However, Arsenal’s journey to success is far from over. On May 30, Arteta’s men will have another chance to make history when they face PSG in the Champions League final, seeking their first ever trophy in the competition.
While Arsenal celebrate their historic championship, Manchester City bid farewell to their coach Pep Guardiola, who is expected to leave at the end of the season after 10 years of great success, having given the club a total of 20 titles including the FA Cup and this season’s Carabao Cup.
