In a statement on Sunday, Vivo Energy emphasized that they have rigorous quality control procedures at their depots to ensure all fuel meets the required standards.
“Our fuel imports into Kenya are subject to strict quality regulations, with two Research Octane Number (RON) categories: Unleaded (RON 93) and Shell V-Power (RON 95),” the company explained. “Each shipment is certified at the source and undergoes thorough testing upon arrival in the country.”
Vivo Energy further assured that they guarantee all fuel meets the necessary standards before being distributed through their nationwide network of Shell service stations.
The company has launched a full investigation, including independent laboratory testing, and will provide updates once the review is complete.
The video, which showed individuals allegedly testing the fuel quality against other products, sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans and social media users.
