Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was among the international observers present in South Africa as the nation’s General Elections began nationwide on Wednesday.

This year’s electoral event marks a significant step in South Africa’s democratic history, with a record-breaking 27.79 million registered voters, the highest since the end of apartheid.

The Independent Electoral Commission confirmed this notable voter registration figure, signaling robust democratic participation among South Africans.

Citizens are currently exercising their voting rights to select a new National Assembly and Provincial Legislatures across the country’s nine provinces.
