The residents of Riandira village in Kirinyaga County are grappling with grief following the loss of two lives in a fatal road accident along the Mwea-Embu highway. Authorities report that the incident occurred at the Kandongu junction, involving a matatu carrying 14 passengers and a motorcycle with two occupants who tragically lost their lives at the scene.

The impact resulted in multiple injuries for both the rider and the pillion, leading to their unfortunate demise after being rushed to a nearby private hospital.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of accidents along the busy Mwea-Embu highway, Joseph Muchoki, an eyewitness at the scene, called on the government to install a speed bump at the Kandongu junction for enhanced road safety.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Kerugoya mortuary, awaiting autopsy, while the involved motor vehicle and motorcycle have been towed to Sagana police station pending further inspection.
