President William Ruto expressed strong disapproval towards disruptive behavior exhibited by a group of unruly youth during a public event in Kiutine, Meru County, on Friday.
The youth were heckling Governor Kawira Mwangaza as she addressed the gathering, prompting Ruto to intervene.
“I will not tolerate this noisy politics. This is uncivilized politics. I want to provide job opportunities. I don’t want people coming here to disrupt meetings,” Ruto stated, visibly annoyed.
“I don’t want this kind of behavior anymore; I won’t tolerate disruptive behavior at presidential meetings. This is disrespectful, and I expect every leader to be accorded respect.”
The president also urged the youth to exercise patience until the next general elections if they wish to replace any elected leaders they believe are underperforming, rather than resorting to heckling. He emphasized that current leaders need sufficient time to fulfill their responsibilities.
“If someone is working, you won’t let them continue working. If someone fails to work, will you dismiss them and send them home? Is it election time now?” Ruto questioned.
We do not want this kind of nonsense, we want a united country.”)
