Six Arrested in Kisumu for Selling Illegal Pesticides

Six street vendors were arrested on Thursday evening along Jomo Kenyatta Highway in Kisumu for selling unlicensed pesticides, following a raid by officers from the Pest Control Products Board (PCPB).

The hawkers were caught by surprise as inspectors swooped in, confiscating the illegal chemicals and taking the suspects into custody.

Stephen Pesa, a PCPB inspector, emphasized that selling pesticides without a license is illegal and poses serious risks to public health and safety.

“These chemicals are hazardous and unsafe for human use when sold or handled without proper regulation,” Pesa said.

He added that the board will continue conducting enforcement operations to clamp down on the unlawful sale of pesticides.

Speaking from Kisumu, Pesa warned traders against selling pesticides on the streets, noting that anyone found breaking the law will face strict action.
