At least eight people have died and seven others sustained serious injuries in a deadly road accident on Tuesday night at Mukhonje trading centre in Lugari Constituency, Kakamega County.
The crash occurred on the busy Eldoret–Webuye highway and involved a matatu and a truck carrying fertilizer.

Eyewitnesses reported that the matatu, traveling from Eldoret, collided with the rear of the stationary truck while attempting to overtake other vehicles.
Maturu Sub-location Assistant Chief Samuel Wamalwa confirmed the incident, noting that the matatu driver was among those killed.
