Githurai: TV Fundi Nearly Framed Over Broken Screen

A TV technician is warning fellow service providers to always test equipment before handling it, after narrowly escaping what appears to have been a deliberate attempt to frame him for damages.

The technician, who shared his ordeal online, narrated how he was called by a new client to mount a 32-inch television in Githurai.

As per his routine, he requested to test the TV before installation to confirm its condition.

“I have one strict rule: before mounting any TV, I must test it or at least see it turned on—just to confirm everything, especially the screen, is okay before I start working,” he explained.

Initially, the client resisted the request, claiming she could not locate the power cable. After insisting, they eventually found the cable under a chair. When the TV was switched on, it displayed visible cracks and lines across the screen.

The technician says the client appeared shocked and avoided responding when asked if she knew about the damage. Realizing the device was already faulty, he declined to mount it and instead packed his tools.

The client later paid for his transport costs.

According to the technician, had he mounted the TV without testing, the client might have accused him of causing the damage, potentially forcing him to repair or replace the unit.

“This was a clear attempt to trap me. If I hadn’t been careful, I would have been left footing the bill for something I didn’t do,” he said.

He has since issued a word of caution to fellow technicians and service providers:

“Always check and test items before installing or handling them. It could save you from unfair blame and huge losses.”
