On Friday, a heartbreaking incident occurred in Gitamaiyu village, Kiambu County, as two siblings, aged six and eight, lost their lives after accidentally falling into a well on a farm. The unfortunate incident took place while the brothers were gathering firewood, with one of them slipping into the well.
In a valiant attempt to rescue his sibling, the second brother also fell into the well and tragically drowned. The brothers were accompanied by a friend who promptly reported the incident to the family.
Chief Maina Mwangi, overseeing the area, confirmed the incident and promptly instructed the property management to cover all wells on the premises and enforce additional safety measures.
Following the tragedy, the bodies of the two brothers were transferred to the mortuary at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
