The recognition was earned through the telco’s AI-driven Supply Market Analysis tool, which provides real-time insights on supplier landscapes, pricing structures, competition, market trends, and commodity risks.
Safaricom says the platform has reduced the time taken for market analysis from close to a month to just 10 minutes, while boosting cost transparency and speeding up tendering processes.
“This award affirms our journey towards becoming Africa’s leading purpose-led technology company by 2030. Leveraging AI enables us to operate faster, smarter, and more innovatively,” noted CEO Peter Ndegwa.
Other contenders in the category included Rohloff Group, recognized for its Energy Management program, and World Vision East African Region, commended for its Contract Life Cycle Management (CLM) system.
The CIPS Africa Awards celebrate organizations transforming procurement practices, with Safaricom standing out for embedding digital innovation into its procurement operations — a reflection of Africa’s growing shift to technology-driven business strategies.
