Celebrated multimedia journalist and news presenter Waweru wa Nyambura has officially left Inooro TV after a stellar career spanning nearly a decade at the Royal Media Services (RMS) owned station.
The award-winning political journalist made the shocking announcement on Sunday evening right after hosting the station’s flagship Sunday evening political talk show, Kiririmbi.
A Curtain Call on Kiririmbi
Waweru, widely admired for his unparalleled command of the Kikuyu language and fierce interviewing style, signed off his final broadcast with an emotional farewell message to his viewers.
For years, he has led the hard-hitting Kiririmbi show, transforming it into a high-stakes, on-ground and in-studio forum where political leaders face direct interrogation from the electorate. His exit marks the end of an era for the station’s prime-time Sunday line-up.
End of a Distinctive Era
Waweru rose to household fame due to his signature, dramatic intro—“Ngĩrîbótérà ínóórô TV, njîtàgúó Waweruuuu wa Nyamburaaaaa!”—which became a cultural phenomenon routinely emulated by children and adults alike across the Mt. Kenya region.

Beyond his iconic voice projection, his reporting distinguished itself through deeply researched storytelling and a unique ability to break down complex political, societal, and economic policies.
His work earned him back-to-back victories at the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA) for digital economy and innovation reporting.
Where Next?
Waweru did not publicly announce his next move.
