Aurelien Glay, managing director of Caetano Kenya, announced that the Vigus range, which includes a single cab, double cab, and light commercial truck, will be available locally.
“These vehicles are designed to offer reliability, durability, and cost-effective operations, catering to the increasing demand for high-quality commercial vehicles,” Glay stated during the launch event in Nairobi on Thursday evening.
The vehicles will be assembled locally from completely knocked down (CKD) kits imported from China. Glay emphasized the company’s dedication to providing affordable options for Kenyan customers while contributing to the growth of the country’s automotive industry.
Sylvia Agani, commercial and marketing director at Caetano Kenya, expressed optimism about the JMC brand’s potential, projecting sales of at least 100 units in 2025. This growth is expected to be fueled by the expansion of local industries and the established reputation of Chinese products in Kenya.
Agani revealed that the single cab truck will be priced at 4.5 million Kenyan shillings (approximately 34,800 U.S. dollars), while the double cab will be sold for 38,500 U.S. dollars.
