Kenya has bolstered its digital partnerships with other African nations, according to a government official on Friday.

William Kabogo Gitau, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, stated that Kenya is working to expand its digital solutions, such as mobile money, into other countries.
“We must unite and collaborate as Africa in developing and deploying digital technologies. A fragmented approach will hinder our progress in adopting digital technology,” Kabogo remarked during a meeting in Nairobi.
He emphasized Kenya’s efforts to promote digital connectivity across the continent, advocating for innovations that pave the way for digital advancement.
Kenya’s prominent mobile money platform, M-Pesa, operates in various African nations, including Tanzania, Mozambique, Ghana, Egypt, Lesotho, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
John Tanui, Principal Secretary in the State Department for ICT and Digital Economy, highlighted Kenya’s vital role in advancing internet connectivity across Africa. He pointed out that the country has eight submarine cables, which connect Kenya to the global network and enhance internet access in Africa.
The African Union Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa (2020-2030) aims to leverage digital technologies for innovative, inclusive, and sustainable growth across the continent, with the goal of achieving universal broadband access and a single digital market by 2030.
