Wetangula Announces 3-Day Retreat for MPs in Naivasha

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, has announced that a three-day mid-term retreat will be held for all Members of Parliament from January 27 to 31, 2025, in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

Speaking on Thursday, Wetangula emphasized the importance of the retreat in evaluating legislative progress and addressing future priorities. He explained that the event will provide MPs with an opportunity to reflect on achievements from previous parliamentary sessions and focus on key legislative issues.

“The retreat will allow members to assess progress made in the first three sessions and consider key legislative matters moving forward,” Wetangula said.

The retreat will also serve as a platform for forward planning, with discussions aimed at strategizing for the fourth parliamentary session and the remainder of the term. Wetangula confirmed that experienced facilitators, including both current and former MPs, would guide the discussions through panel sessions and interactive plenary sessions.

The Speaker urged MPs to prioritize attendance at this important event, stressing that full participation would be crucial to the success of the retreat.

“This retreat is a critical opportunity for us to plan ahead, reflect on our work, and enhance our ability to serve the public effectively. I invite all members to make time for this significant event,” Wetangula concluded.

Mid-term retreats have become a key tradition for the National Assembly, enabling members to review their legislative agenda, collaborate on strategies, and strengthen their collective capacity to govern effectively. Senior leaders, including members of the Parliamentary Service Commission and leaders of parliamentary parties, typically attend these retreats.
