While the transfer fee was undisclosed, British media estimate it at around £20 million (\$27 million). The 25-year-old Denmark international made 72 appearances for Leicester, helping them win the 2024 Championship title and standing out during their Premier League relegation season.
Hermansen joins as a replacement for Poland’s Lukasz Fabianski, who departed at the end of last season, and will compete with 32-year-old Alphonse Areola for the starting spot.
West Ham’s goalkeeping coach, Casper Ankergren — who previously worked with Hermansen at Brøndby — will reunite with him under manager Graham Potter.
Speaking to the club’s website, Hermansen praised the London Stadium atmosphere, describing it as “an amazing place with loud, passionate fans” and promised to bring bravery and positive energy to the team.
Potter said the club believes Hermansen’s best years are ahead, noting his consistent quality over the past two seasons with Leicester.
