Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru has stated that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made significant sacrifices for their generation.
Speaking at the Priesthood Fellowship Church in Kahawa West, Nairobi, where she attended a service with Gachagua and his wife, Waruguru emphasized that the former DP, like other leaders from the Mt Kenya region before him, had paid the price for their leadership.
She pointed out that nothing valuable is achieved without being prepared to face the challenges and consequences that come with it.
Waruguru acknowledged that Gachagua, like former leaders Mzee Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta, had made sacrifices for the betterment of the country. She reassured Gachagua that he was not alone in his journey.
“There is no success without sacrifice. You’ve paid the price for our generation. Mzee Kibaki paid his price, Uhuru Kenyatta paid his. My brother, you are not alone,” she stated.
She also addressed the quietness of the Mt Kenya region, asserting that it does not mean the people are unaware of the country’s issues.
Furthermore, Waruguru made it clear that they would not tolerate any efforts to incite division between communities within Kenya. The Mt Kenya region, she said, would not be swayed into conflict or manipulation.
“When you see us quiet, it’s not because we don’t know what’s going on in the country. We won’t allow anyone to lead us down a path of incitement or ridicule. We will not let anyone pit us against other communities,” she said.

Waruguru is one of the leaders from the Mt Kenya region who has publicly supported Gachagua, even prior to his impeachment as Deputy President. She was joined by other leaders including MPs John Gakuya (Embakasi North) and MejjaDonk Gathiru (Embakasi Central).
