Kenya Power Announces Planned Outages for Tuesday

Kenya Power has released a notice indicating areas that will experience planned electricity outages on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

The utility company stated that the interruptions, scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., are necessary to allow for routine maintenance of the power system.

Seven counties are set to be affected: Nairobi, Nandi, Kisumu, Bungoma, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Kilifi.

Nairobi
Several parts of Nairobi will be without electricity from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Affected areas include:
Githurai 45, Co-op Bank, Naivas, Kingdom Sacco, Mt. Kenya, Kimbo, Mwana Mukia, Clanne Academy, Kassmatt, Fountain Junior, Kwa DO, Mukinye, Army Barracks, Sukari B, Mwiki School, Kimbo Police, sections of Mwihoko, Farmers Choice, part of Clay City and nearby customers.

Additional affected locations are:
Paa Crescent, ICC Church, Muthaiti Avenue, Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi West Shopping Centre, parts of Nairobi West, Niamey Road, Gandhi Avenue, Kodi Road, Summerdale Hotel, Swara Crescent, Kifaru Crescent, Msufu Road, part of Muhoho Avenue, Sumba Road, Rio Hotel, Kisauni Road, Nairobi West Hospital, and Madaraka Roundabout.

Nandi
In Nandi County, power will be cut between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Danger, Kapsasur, and surrounding areas.

Kisumu
Parts of Kisumu will experience power outages from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Affected areas include sections of Siriba Campus, Maseno Nyawita, and nearby customers.

Bungoma
Power interruptions in Bungoma, scheduled between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., will impact Mechimeru, Nzoia, Machinjoni, Tembelela, Bukembe, Marobo, and Mabanga.

Nyeri
In Nyeri, affected areas include Gititu Dispensary and nearby schools, Nyaithe Coffee Factory and schools, Karo Schools, Gathungo, Kiaraho, Maingirano, and Ithe Kahuno—all expected to experience outages between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Laikipia
Laikipia County will see outages from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kongoni Farm, Umande Market, Ndemu Market, Seiyo Market, Gakeu Market, Kalalu Health Centre, Kalalu Girls Secondary School, and surrounding areas.

Kilifi
Kilifi County will experience widespread power interruptions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Affected areas include:
Marina, Ndodo, parts of Mtwapa Town, Jambo Travelers, Furaha Academy, Maweni, Screenshot, Bahari Parents, Jumba Ruins, Greenwood, KMA, Coca-Cola Bottlers, Ashut Plastics, Mombasa Apparel, Milly Fruits, Mzuri Sweets, Umoja Rubber Limited, Ogalis, Mwalimu Omar, North Coast Medical College, Bomani kwa Kanyi, Khosla Farm, Pentagon, UB40, Bomani Dispensary, and Kikambala Housing.

Also affected in Kilifi are:
Bomani 3 Stars, Bionoo, Mamba, Bomani Manase, Bomani Palepale, Junju Secondary, Junju Village, Mwembetsungu, parts of Mwatundo, Tropical Sea Life, Coast Apparel, Petrocity Sokoni, Mtwapa Market, Mwatundo, Rise and Shine, Kwa Radar, Rubis Mtwapa, Ndonya Nyati, Ngoloko, Sea Gas, Mwananchi Bakery, Msumari, Mferejini, Vipingo Sisal, Vipingo Beach, Kuruwitu, Kuruwitu Beach, and neighboring areas.

Kenya Power advises affected customers to make necessary arrangements in advance.
