US and China to Meet for Trade Talks in London

A new round of talks aimed at resolving the trade war between the United States and China will take place in London today, Monday.

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that senior US officials would meet with Chinese representatives. Over the weekend, Beijing confirmed that Vice Premier He Lifeng would attend the talks.

This comes after Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a phone conversation last week, which the US president described as “productive”.

Last month, the world’s two largest economies reached a temporary agreement to reduce tariffs on goods traded between them, but since then both countries have accused each other of violating the agreement.
