UPA’s Chris Osiemo emerged victorious in the Nyamaiya Ward race with 4,790 votes, ahead of UDA’s Thomas Nyandieka, who finished second with 1,357 votes.
The by-election, which attracted nine contenders, was held following the death of former MCA Elijah Osiemo.
In Nyamira, UPA also secured the Ekerenyo Ward seat after Njenga Jeremiah Ongaro was declared the winner.
Ongaro received 3,507 votes, while UDA’s Ndubi Amenya Francis came in second with 2,292 votes. Wiper candidate Shem Makori Nyanumba finished a distant third with 291 votes.
The outcomes were announced by Returning Officer Wesley Ruto at Ikonge Girls High School.
