Their bodies were taken to the mortuary for post-mortem examination as investigations continue to determine the cause of the fire. A team of experts, including officials from Kenya Power, has joined the probe.

Meanwhile, in Mudete, Vihiga County, two siblings aged 19 and 10 were killed by lightning as they warmed themselves in their kitchen during heavy rains on October 6, 2025. A third sibling, aged 13, sustained injuries and was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Similar lightning incidents have been reported in Nakuru, Bomet, and Kitale in recent weeks, leaving at least three people dead. Residents have urged authorities to install protective devices to reduce such fatalities.

In another tragic incident in Baharini, Uasin Gishu County, a three-year-old boy drowned after slipping into an open borehole while playing with other children. Police said the child’s body was retrieved and taken to the mortuary pending investigations.
