A Kisumu court has released two suspects linked to a motor vehicle theft syndicate on KSh 500,000 bail each, with a surety of a similar amount.
The two, identified as Michael Mwaga and Peter Andei, had been detained following their arrest in connection with an alleged car theft ring. The prosecution, through DCI investigators, had requested that they be held for 21 days to allow further investigations.

However, Principal Magistrate Dennis Ogal rejected the request, ruling that the period sought was excessive and that the offences were bailable. He directed the prosecution to formally charge the suspects by October 13.
Meanwhile, the main suspect, Evans Otieno Meda, who was arrested on Wednesday, is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
Police have since recovered another vehicle, a Toyota Axio registration number KDD 559J, suspected to have been stolen. The car was found abandoned in a local hospital parking lot and has been towed to Migosi Police Station.
