Ruto: UDA–ODM Partnership Will Be Based on Equality

President William Ruto has said that his working relationship with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will be founded on equality and mutual benefit.

According to the President, the cooperation between the two sides will rely on trust and shared gains.

“Our relationship with ODM will be one of equals,” Ruto said.

He noted that the party is currently led by Oburu Odinga and reiterated his commitment to maintaining a strong and faithful partnership with the party.

Ruto explained that the collaboration would be structured in a way that ensures both parties benefit.

“The party of ODM, under the leadership of Oburu. I committed that we will remain faithful to this partnership,” he said.

“It will be a relationship of equals, and it will deliver a win-win outcome for both sides.”

The President spoke on Sunday during a visit to Siaya County.

Ruto also said that young people have often been viewed as part of the country’s problems, yet they are key to solving many of the challenges facing Kenya.

He noted that the youth possess skills, talent, innovation and energy that can help transform the country’s economy.

“They are assets who can help turn Kenya into a first-world economy. That is why we have deliberately introduced measures to empower young people and create employment opportunities for them,” he said.

During the visit, the President officially opened the Siaya Community Digital Hub in Bondo, Siaya County, and addressed traders and residents of Bondo town.

In January, Ruto also called for national unity, urging leaders of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and ODM to begin discussions on forming the next government.

Speaking to residents at the Kondele Roundabout and Kisumu Stage in Kisumu, the President directly asked locals if they supported talks between the two parties. The crowd responded positively, chanting slogans in support of the idea.

“I want to make a personal appeal. Let us come together and hold negotiations between ODM and UDA to form a coalition and build the next government. The two parties should discuss and agree on how to move the country forward,” he said.

The President urged leaders to move away from tribal politics, discrimination and hatred, saying a coalition between the two parties could help unite the country.

Ruto also said leadership should be judged by development achievements rather than political rhetoric.

He described himself as a leader focused on building governments and delivering development, adding that opponents without clear plans or achievements would eventually fade from the political scene.

“My opponents have no plans, no vision, no agenda and no development record. The people of Kisumu know this very well,” he said.

He further claimed that his rivals would be defeated early on election day.

“They will go home early in the morning because they will all have been defeated,” he said.
