The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has officially opened registration for candidates planning to contest various elective positions under its ticket in the 2027 General Election.
In a notice issued on Friday, July 24, 2026, the party invited prospective candidates to begin the registration process by paying the required fee through its designated Paybill number before submitting their personal and electoral information.

According to the party’s guidelines, aspirants for Member of County Assembly (MCA) positions will pay a registration fee of Sh5,000. Youth and persons with disabilities seeking MCA seats will benefit from a reduced fee of Sh2,500.
Candidates seeking to contest for Member of Parliament, Woman Representative or Senator positions will each pay Sh10,000. Youth and persons with disabilities in these categories will pay Sh5,000.
Gubernatorial aspirants will pay the highest registration fee of Sh50,000, while youth and PWD candidates seeking governor positions will pay Sh25,000.
The party said registration is currently open and prospective candidates must complete the process before they can participate in the party’s nomination exercise ahead of the 2027 polls.
After making payment, applicants are required to provide proof of payment alongside their full names and national identification card numbers.
They must also submit their phone numbers and indicate their county, constituency, ward and the elective position they intend to contest.
The registration exercise is part of DCP’s preparations for the 2027 General Election and comes nearly a year after the party was launched.
The move also reflects the party’s efforts to expand its political presence beyond its traditional support base in the Mt Kenya region.
Earlier in July, DCP announced plans to field candidates across all 47 counties in the 2027 elections as it seeks to establish itself as a national political party.
Speaking in Nyahururu on July 17, party leader Rigathi Gachagua said DCP had put in place structures to support candidates seeking major elective positions across the country.
Gachagua said the party intends to contest gubernatorial, senatorial, National Assembly and county assembly seats in every county.
DCP is targeting at least 20 governors, 20 senators, 145 Members of the National Assembly and 720 Members of County Assembly in the 2027 General Election.
