The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised 20,000 job openings for teachers in Junior Schools, inviting qualified candidates to apply.
In an advertisement published Tuesday, July 28, the commission called on eligible applicants to fill the Post Primary teaching posts as part of efforts to support the rollout of Competency Based Education.

To qualify, applicants must be Kenyan citizens holding at least a diploma in education, with a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ and a C+ in two teaching subjects, or an equivalent qualification. Candidates must also be registered teachers with TSC, currently unemployed, and must not have a history of leaving the teaching service due to disciplinary action.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online via the commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under the “Careers” section, or through teachersonline.tsc.go.ke. TSC stressed that applicants should only submit one application form each, warning that manual applications will not be accepted. Candidates will also be required to present original academic and professional certificates during the process.
The commission further noted that successful teacher interns will be retained within their current sub-counties and stations. The application portal opens Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and closes at midnight on Monday, August 31, 2026.

TSC also cautioned applicants to be wary of con artists who may attempt to extort money by falsely claiming to assist with recruitment, emphasizing that the entire process is free of charge. The commission urged anyone encountering such fraudulent activity to report it to their nearest TSC office or to TSC headquarters.
34,016 Promotion Vacancies Also Advertised
In addition to the new recruitment drive, TSC has advertised 34,016 promotion positions, inviting eligible teachers to apply. These vacancies span multiple ranks, from Chief Principal down to Senior Teacher II, and cover both mainstream schools and Special Needs Education (SNE) institutions.
The available promotion posts include 54 Chief Principal positions, 148 Senior Principal roles, 770 Principal posts, and 891 Deputy Principal II vacancies. The commission also listed 1,068 Deputy Principal III positions, 1,865 Deputy Headteacher I roles, 3,075 Deputy Headteacher II posts, and 5,956 Senior Master IV vacancies.
The bulk of the openings fall under Senior Teacher II, with 13,490 positions, followed by Senior Teacher I, which has 4,210 vacancies.
Teachers interested in these promotion opportunities are required to apply online through the Teachers Online portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke before the deadline of midnight on Monday, August 10, 2026.
