NAIROBI, July 28, 2026 — Sammy Douglas Waweru Kamau has officially assumed office as the new Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency after taking the Oath of Office at the National Assembly.
Kamau was sworn in on Tuesday, July 28, following his victory in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election held on July 16, 2026.
The newly elected MP took the Oath of Office and signed the official Oath Register during a ceremony attended by Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia and Roysambu MP Augustine Kamande Mwafrika.
The Ol Kalou parliamentary seat became vacant following the death of former MP David Njuguna Kiaraho in March 2026 after a short illness. Kiaraho had served three terms in Parliament.
Kamau contested the by-election on a Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ticket and emerged victorious with 35,440 votes, securing his entry into the National Assembly.

A native of Ol Kalou in Nyandarua County, Kamau began his education at AC Primary School in the Karau/Kaimbaga area before joining Utumishi Boys High School.
He later pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Nairobi.
Kamau’s political career dates back to 2013 when he was elected as the inaugural Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Karau Ward on a TNA/DP ticket.
Before his election to Parliament, he served as the DCP Coordinator for Nyandarua County, where he was involved in grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the party’s presence in the region.

His swearing-in marks his formal entry into the 13th Parliament, where he will serve for the remainder of the current parliamentary term.
Kamau’s tenure will run until the next General Election scheduled for August 2027.
