According to the State House notice, the President will speak from State House, Nairobi, at 7:00 p.m. The announcement suggested the address would center on the country’s development trajectory and the gains anticipated under a broader national vision.

The timing follows closely behind Ruto’s receipt of a report titled “Developing a New National Vision: Journey to a First World Economy” last week. The document is intended to lay the groundwork for a successor to Vision 2030, the framework that has guided Kenya’s national planning and economic policy since 2008.
While receiving the report at State House, Ruto praised its insights into the strategic direction the country has already begun pursuing, pointing to initiatives such as the National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund as part of a broader push toward transforming Kenya into a competitive first-world economy. He noted that the government would carefully review the report’s recommendations and invited public input from Kenyans.
The address also comes at a time of heightened political activity as Kenya moves closer to the 2027 General Election, with shifting alliances, defections, and succession maneuvering already reshaping the political scene well over a year before the vote.
Additionally, the speech lands amid mounting public anxiety over insecurity, a topic that has dominated national discourse in recent weeks — leaving many Kenyans watching to see whether the President will address it directly.
The timing also coincides with ongoing speculation about the state of Ruto’s relationship with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. Media reports this week claimed that Kindiki’s office had been stripped of its intergovernmental coordination responsibilities, with those functions reportedly reassigned to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Kindiki dismissed the reports as false in a brief statement posted on X on Monday, and on Wednesday night shared photos from a private one-on-one meeting with Ruto at State House, in an apparent bid to signal unity between the two leaders. Speculation over their partnership has intensified since UDA’s loss in the Ol Kalou by-election, with some allies of Ruto openly questioning whether Kindiki should remain his running mate in the 2027 election.
