Speaking to over 10,000 UDA grassroots leaders at Sagana State Lodge, Ruto emphasized that his longstanding relationship with the people of Mt Kenya is strong and cannot be broken by political maneuvering.

“Anyone who thinks they can sever the friendship I have built with Mt Kenya is merely day-dreaming,” he said.

Addressing the crowd, he added in Kiswahili, “Mimi siwachani na nyinyi…kwa vyovyote vile, muanze kujipanga mapema. Hatuwachani, tunatembea pamoja,” highlighting his commitment to walk with the region despite any political pressures.

Ruto underscored that friendship is built over time, recalling that the region’s support in past elections stemmed from the bond he cultivated.

The gathering included over 17,000 recently elected polling centre leaders from Nyeri County, a key political base and the home of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, whose recent criticisms of Ruto have stirred debate over the 2027 succession and regional influence.

While Ruto did not directly name Gachagua, his remarks appeared aimed at calming tensions in the region.

The president also rejected political threats, arrogance, tribalism, and abuse, stressing that effective leadership and development require humility, cooperation, and unity.

At the event, Ruto highlighted UDA’s ongoing restructuring, presenting the party as a national movement intended to drive Kenya’s development agenda beyond a single election cycle.

“We are building UDA into a mass political party to champion Kenya’s long-term transformation agenda,” he said.

Ruto also defended his government’s performance under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, pointing to progress in infrastructure, industrialisation, agriculture, healthcare, human capital development, and job creation as evidence of steady economic growth.

“We remain committed to transforming Kenya into a first-world economy through strategic investment, human capital development, quality healthcare, agriculture, industrialisation, and employment for our youth,” he added.
