Culture, Arts & Heritage PS Ummi Bashir presented the honour on behalf of President William Ruto, who conferred the award on December 12, 2024. She praised Indah’s “outstanding contribution to the promotion of cultural music and artistic excellence,” noting the State Department’s pride in the transformative power of the arts.
The OGW is a presidential award given to individuals for exceptional service to the nation, including acts of bravery, sacrifice, and professional excellence across various fields.

His journey to fame was shaped by early struggles — after losing both parents, he moved to Nairobi and worked manual jobs to survive.

Inspired by his uncle, Ohangla legend Emma Jalamo, he joined the Ramogi Ohangla Rhumba Band as a shaker and drummer before becoming a backup vocalist.
His stage name signifies his position as Jalamo’s musical heir, with Jalamo widely regarded as the “King of Ohangla.”
