Police Detail 71 Major Cases Solved Since January 2025

The National Police Service (NPS) has announced it has successfully investigated 71 high-profile cases since January 2025, including the KUSSCO fraud scandal and the murders of Multimedia University student Silvia Kemunto, Scottish national Campbell Alistair Scott, and Kilifi electoral officer Aisha Abubakar.

In a statement outlining the status of the investigations, Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been working diligently to ensure justice is served in all reported incidents.

The reported crimes range from murder, armed robbery, theft of goods in transit, and defilement to trafficking in firearms, narcotics, and human beings.

“This progress reflects the National Police Service’s strong commitment to conducting prompt and thorough investigations to hold offenders accountable,” said Nyaga.

Among the notable cases highlighted was the armed robbery at Elmarba Full Gospel Church in Kajiado County, where a Korean missionary couple was attacked. Police arrested and charged four suspects in connection with the crime.

Nyaga also cited significant developments in the investigation into the killing of Kasipul MP Charles Were.

The police praised members of the public who have come forward with key information that helped crack several cases.

The NPS reiterated its dedication to protecting the public by ensuring that all cases are pursued to their conclusion and that those responsible face justice.
