Ndindi Nyoro Calls for Recall of Parliament to Debate Fuel Price Reduction

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has officially written to the Speaker of the National Assembly requesting the recall of Parliament from recess to urgently deliberate on proposed amendments aimed at lowering fuel prices in Kenya.

In his letter to Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Nyoro urged that Parliament be reconvened under its constitutional powers and Standing Orders to consider legislative measures he says are meant to reduce the high cost of fuel.

He argued that the proposed changes are intended to tackle rising fuel prices, which continue to drive up transport costs, commodity prices, and household expenses across the country.

Nyoro asked the Speaker to use parliamentary authority to bring Members of the National Assembly back from recess so the proposals can be tabled, debated, and processed without delay.

The MP also noted that the detailed amendments have already been submitted to the Clerk of the National Assembly for further handling.

His request comes at a time of increasing public concern over surging fuel prices, which have sparked debate among leaders, transport operators, and citizens.

Recent adjustments have pushed fuel prices to record highs in several towns, adding pressure on households and businesses that depend heavily on transport and logistics.

Nyoro further expressed willingness to offer additional clarification to support the process, stressing the urgency of addressing fuel costs through legislative action.

He maintained that Parliament remains a key institution for enacting policies that could help ease the economic burden on Kenyans.
