The appointments, announced through a Gazette Notice dated June 27, 2025, include Peris Muthoni Kimani, Benjamin Juma Imai, and Collete Suda.
They take over from outgoing members whose terms recently ended. The new appointees will serve a single, non-renewable term of six years.
The NPSC is tasked with key human resource responsibilities within the police service, including recruitment, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary matters. The Commission also advises on policies aimed at improving police welfare and professionalism.
These latest appointments underscore the government’s efforts to strengthen police oversight and accountability, especially as concerns grow over police conduct and the pace of reforms.
The move follows parliamentary approval of the three nominees, who appeared before the National Assembly’s committee on internal security for vetting.
During their vetting, the appointees pledged to work with fellow commissioners to advance the implementation of the Maraga task force recommendations on police reforms.
“The Commission will fully enforce the reforms. Integrating the Maraga proposals will help improve the welfare of our police officers,” said Juma.
They also stressed the importance of rebuilding public confidence in the police service, adding that collaboration with oversight bodies such as the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) would be a key priority.

“We intend to engage openly with stakeholders to address the challenges faced by officers and find long-term, practical solutions,” Juma added.
