Nairobi residents woke up to a wet and chilly Wednesday morning as heavy rains lashed several parts of the city, flooding roads and causing massive traffic delays.
Motorists on key routes — including Mombasa Road, Thika Superhighway, and Waiyaki Way — experienced long tailbacks as reduced visibility and slippery surfaces slowed movement.
In areas such as South B, Donholm, and Umoja, pedestrians were forced to wade through ankle-deep water as drainage systems struggled to cope with the downpour.
The Kenya Meteorological Department has cautioned that the rains, which started on Monday, are expected to persist through the week, advising residents in flood-prone zones to remain vigilant against possible flash floods.
