Detectives have launched investigations into the death of a 22-year-old woman who died after reportedly falling from the rooftop of a 22-storey building in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area.
The incident was reported at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday after the building’s management was alerted by a security guard who discovered a woman’s body on a neighbouring property.

Police officers responded to the scene and found the body of Margaret Wambui with multiple injuries consistent with a fall from a significant height.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Wambui is believed to have fallen from the rooftop on the 22nd floor of the building.
A bag found on the rooftop contained personal items, including a small purse, a Visa card and an IEBC voter registration card bearing her name, which investigators believe belonged to the deceased.
According to police, Wambui, who was an intern at a hotel in the area, is believed to have gone to the rooftop at around 10 p.m. to take photographs before her body was later found on an adjacent property.
Her family, who live in Kasarani, has called for a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
Relatives said Wambui left home at about 7 p.m. saying she was heading to her internship. However, there is no indication that she arrived at her workplace. Investigators established that she accessed Altura Apartments at around 10 p.m., briefly visited the reception area before proceeding to the 22nd floor.
Police said a security guard stationed on the rooftop saw Wambui taking photographs but did not witness the fall because he had stepped away to use the washroom.
Investigators are working to determine whether the fall was accidental or if other factors may have contributed to the incident.
Her family has dismissed speculation that she may have taken her own life, saying she had not displayed any signs of emotional distress.
The scene was processed by detectives before the body was moved to the Nairobi City Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination and formal identification will be conducted. Investigations remain ongoing.
