Friday 10th was momentous day for the community in Mwingi West as they engaged in tree planting day which took place at Mumoni Hills where over 12,000 seedlings in the were planted by MERMA under the leadership and dedication of esteemed board member, Mr. Dominic Mumbu, sponsored by UNDP.
Mumbu stated that the initiative was not merely about planting trees; it signifies “our” collective commitment to the restoration and rejuvenation of Mumoni Hills.

Mr. Mumbu’s passionate advocacy has urged all to take responsibility for these trees, ensuring their care and protection for the benefit of our environment and future generations.

“Rehabilitating Mumoni Hills is a noble endeavor that requires ongoing dedication from each of us. These trees are not just saplings; they are symbols of hope and resilience. They represent our determination to heal and revitalize this cherished landscape,” he said.

He also called upon every resident in the community to actively participate in nurturing trees, water them, shield them from harm, and watch them thrive. “By doing so, we are not only enhancing the beauty of our surroundings but also contributing to a healthier ecosystem”.

“Together, we have embarked on a journey towards a greener, more sustainable future. Let us embrace this opportunity with enthusiasm and commitment. Together, let us transform Mumoni Hills into a vibrant and flourishing ecosystem once again,”he concluded.
