Two Individuals Killed in Elwak Terror Attack Laid to Rest in Mwingi

In a solemn ceremony on Friday, two victims of the recent Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Elwak, Mandera County, were interred in Mbondoni, Mwingi, Kitui County.

John Kilunda and Robert Munyithya, among the seven casualties of the brutal terrorist assault, were honored at a mass held at Mbondoni Parish, Mwingi West.

The burial drew the attendance of political figures, friends, and sympathizers, who joined the grieving families in their sorrow.

Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna expressed solidarity with the bereaved families, urging governmental support for those affected by the tragedy.

“Today in Kitui County, we stand united with the families, extending our condolences nationally to all those who have lost loved ones. We call upon the government to provide necessary assistance to the affected families,” remarked Nguna during the ceremony.

Patrick Muthengi, Director of Tourism Fund, lauded the government’s swift response in extending financial aid to the affected families. The government facilitated the transportation of the deceased from Mandera and contributed towards the funeral expenses, easing the burden on the grieving families.

In the wake of the Elwak attack, the government has pledged to implement stringent security measures across the nation to safeguard citizens against such atrocities.
