The announcement was made by the Office of the Chief Kadhi, confirming the beginning of the month of Shawwal and bringing to an end the 29 days of fasting observed by believers across the country.

“The crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Shawwal has been successfully sighted this evening in various parts of the country. In particular, in Kwale County, specifically the Ramisi area, three people have confirmed that they have seen it at the right time.
“The loyalty of the three was confirmed by the local imam,” Sukyan said.
He added that the observation meets Islamic requirements used to mark the end of Ramadan.
“The month of Ramadan has come to an end, and tomorrow will be the first day of Shawwal and the day of Eid-ul-Fitr,” he said.
In Tanzania, the Mufti and Grand Sheikh of Tanzania Dr. Sheikh Abubakar Zubeir bin Ally Mbwana announced that Eid will be on Saturday after the moon was not sighted yesterday Thursday.

Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar, marking the conclusion of Ramadan, a holy month in which Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, participate in prayers, and perform acts of charity.
