The court has instructed the defence to collect documentary evidence from the prosecution, sign the inventory, and file it in the court’s records.
“A copy shall be submitted after execution and the inventory made available,” Magistrate Mutai directed.
This comes after Salasya’s arrest on May 16 along the Isiolo–Nanyuki highway, an incident he described as an ambush by armed individuals identifying as DCI officers who disarmed and detained him. He was later held at the Nairobi Central Police Station.
The legislator was subsequently arraigned and charged with hate speech stemming from controversial remarks and social media posts—charges he denied.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000, granted by Magistrate Mutai.
Earlier this month, the court dismissed Salasya’s claims of rights violations during detention, citing insufficient evidence.
The court also rejected his legal team’s request to have his confiscated firearm returned, noting that it lacked jurisdiction to make such an order. The weapon remains part of the ongoing investigation.
