MCK Emphasizes Radio’s Vital Role in Information Dissemination

The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has emphasized the vital role of radio as a crucial tool for disseminating information to the public.

Joseph Mecha, the MCK Nakuru Regional Coordinator, stressed the importance of journalists adhering to ethical standards and prioritizing accurate reporting in their professional duties.

“Media practitioners bear the responsibility of delivering pertinent content to our audiences. This entails presenting news updates in an impartial manner,” stated Mecha during the World Radio Day celebrations in Nakuru.

Nakuru County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara urged government agencies to utilize radio platforms for sharing relevant information and to foster effective collaboration with the media to enhance public awareness.

“It is essential to acknowledge the pivotal role that radio plays in facilitating communication between government entities and the public. I urge all government agencies to utilize radio as a means of disseminating information to the public,” emphasized Mr. Kibaara.

Prof. Bernard Kodak, Director of Maasai Mara University, echoed the importance of journalists pursuing ongoing education to stay abreast of rapid technological advancements in the media industry.

“The advent of podcasts presents a notable challenge in the radio sector. It is imperative that we adapt to this transition by embracing continuous education to equip ourselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate these new avenues,” remarked Prof. Kodak.
