Justin Muturi Dismisses Reports of Secret Talks with Ruto Allies

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has denied claims that he met with emissaries allegedly sent by President William Ruto to negotiate a political reunion.

Muturi’s response came shortly after President Ruto revealed that he had been engaging opposition leaders in dialogue aimed at fostering national unity.

In a statement released on Sunday, October 12, 2025, Muturi dismissed a viral report alleging secret meetings with Ruto’s allies, terming it fake and misleading.

“This is fake news. I have never met, sent, or received any emissaries from President William Ruto or anyone acting on his behalf,” Muturi said.

He accused those spreading the rumors of attempting to divide the opposition and confuse the public.

“This propaganda is a desperate attempt to sow division and create false narratives. Kenyans deserve the truth, not fabricated stories,” he added.

According to the fake post, Ruto had allegedly sent senior government officials to entice Muturi with financial offers to join the Kenya Kwanza coalition — a claim Muturi strongly refuted.

He emphasized that his political integrity and principles remain intact and that he would not betray the opposition’s trust.

“I stand by my principles. I will not trade my convictions for convenience or political favors,” he said.

Muturi’s statement followed remarks by President Ruto, who during a church service in Nairobi, said he had met several national leaders, including Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, and Gideon Moi, as part of efforts to unite the country.

“I’ve already engaged with about 80 per cent of MPs and several key leaders to chart a path that will move Kenya forward,” Ruto said.

Despite Ruto’s outreach, Muturi has repeatedly ruled out reconciling with him. Speaking on August 25, 2025, at the opening of the National Independent Church of Africa’s St. Peter Kaunjira branch, Muturi insisted that his focus was on holding the President accountable, not joining him.

“I’ve heard people say I’ll reconcile with him — that’s impossible. My duty is to ensure he is held responsible for his actions,” he declared.

Muturi, who previously served as Attorney General, has since aligned himself with opposition figures such as Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa, reaffirming his commitment to push for accountability and justice in governance.
