Man Who Assaulted a Police Officer Jailed For 7 Years

24-year-old Tyson Kasesi received a seven-year prison sentence for assaulting a police officer in Kakamega.

Kasesi, who initially refused to plead guilty, eventually admitted to all charges.

The prosecution emphasized the need for the minimum sentence as a deterrent.

The magistrate, considering the prevalence of such assaults, deemed a custodial sentence necessary for deterrence. Just two days earlier, 19-year-old Ian Njoroge was arrested for assaulting a traffic police officer.
