Police are probing a series of separate incidents across the country, including the death of a man who succumbed to injuries following an alleged assault by his brother in Shinyalu, Kakamega County.
According to investigators, 27-year-old Silas Abungana died on February 5, two days after he was reportedly attacked during a domestic dispute in Masakiali village. The confrontation is said to have started as an argument before turning violent.

Officers who visited the victim’s home recovered an item believed to have been used in the assault. The suspect reportedly fled after learning of his brother’s death. Police moved the body to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination and said efforts were underway to trace and arrest the suspect.
In a separate case in Kapsoya, Uasin Gishu County, a woman identified as Faith Cheserek was found unconscious by the roadside, with police suspecting she had been assaulted. She was taken to a nearby house where she later died. Investigations are ongoing to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding her death. Her body was transferred to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Tanaka area of Busia County, a tragic accident claimed the life of a one-year-and-ten-month-old boy who drowned after falling into a borehole at his family’s home. Police said the borehole was approximately 20 feet deep. Residents retrieved the child’s body before police moved it to the mortuary as investigations continue.
Meanwhile in Embu County, officers recovered a human leg from the Rupingazi River on February 4. The limb was found lodged against a rock, raising suspicions of a possible death or murder elsewhere. It was taken to the mortuary as police launched investigations to establish its origin.
Another drowning incident was reported in Eshiongo, Navokholo Sub-County, Kakamega County, where the body of a 60-year-old man, Albert Andayi, was discovered in Naruchira River in Eshiyenga village. Police said the circumstances leading to his death remain unclear. The body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.

In Nyachogochogo village, Kiambere, Nyamira County, a 30-year-old man, Robert Ogero, drowned while cleaning a borehole alongside two other workers. Police said the three had been hired for the task when Ogero slipped and fell into the water. Attempts by his colleagues to rescue him were unsuccessful. His body was later retrieved and taken to the mortuary following the February 5 incident.
Elsewhere in Nairobi’s Kasarani area, the body of a private security guard, Lewis Mugambi, was found outside an apartment building. He was still dressed in his uniform and lay on a veranda, long after his death. Police and witnesses said the body was found in a pool of blood.
Authorities are yet to determine whether Mugambi was fatally injured or collapsed at the scene. His body was moved to the mortuary as police launched investigations to establish the cause of death.
