M-Pesa Services to be Unavailable on Monday April 7, Safaricom Announces

Safaricom PLC has announced that its M-Pesa services will undergo scheduled system maintenance on the night of Monday, April 7, 2025, from 1:00 am to 1:30 am.

In a public notice released on Saturday, the telecom company explained that the 30-minute maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and improve customer experience.

“During this brief maintenance window, M-Pesa services will be intermittently available,” the notice stated.

However, Safaricom reassured customers that other services such as calls, data, and SMS would remain unaffected during the upgrade.

The company noted that the maintenance timing was carefully chosen to minimize any disruption for users.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for choosing us as your trusted service provider,” the company said.

M-Pesa, which launched on March 6, 2007, is celebrating its 18th anniversary this year. Initially introduced as a domestic mobile money service, it enabled millions of unbanked Kenyans to access financial services. Over the years, it has grown into a significant financial service platform, expanding its reach beyond Kenya.
